Course Objectives and
Policies
Purpose: Century 21 Accounting is organized into a complete
competency-based instructional program. This means that these courses are
designed to lead students to predetermined goals and objectives. Attention is
focused on learner outcomes. (see syllabus)
General Business/Personal Finance is organized into several competency-based
instructional units. Students will be doing extensive work in areas of practical
knowledge for use in everyday life. (see syllabus)
Goals Students are expected to achieve the following:
1. Know accounting as it relates to careers
2. Know accounting terminology
3. Understand accounting concepts, principles, and practices
4. Apply accounting procedures
5. Know the basics of automated accounting
Study Students will study service and merchandising business accounting
Objectives accounting and basic principles of automated accounting. This will
be accomplished through such learning activities as problem solving,
business simulations, and computer interface activities. There will also
be several general business (credit card use, insurances, investing etc.)
units taught as time permits.
Behavioral It is my intention that the classroom atmosphere be conducive to
study
Expectation based on mutual respect. Students are expected to treat peers and
class
room with the same respect accorded to the teacher. Other factors such
as tardies, discipline, and course failure will be referred to the proper
authority and procedures as explained in the student handbook.
